For the Love of Beads

So I went and purchased a bead loom the other day at I-Bead. A couple hundred dollars later, I settled on a selection of Japanese Miyuki seed beads, beading thread, needles, clasps and I set out to make a cuff bracelet. The Japanese Miyukis (or Miyukii?) are of the highest quality glass beads and they are so precious.

There are many tutorials on YouTube. I will leave a link below to the one I used. I wanted to make a traditional native style bracelet. I hadn’t used a bead loom before so the simpler the better. I found a website where you could download a PDF of bead graph paper for free! I then brought it in to Procreate and began designing my bracelet. I feel good about actually not using any paper or ink for this. With my design mapped out in procreate, a lot of the thinking is done for me. I just have to look at the graph and pop those baby beads on the needle and go!


 I love the way it turned out and can’t wait to start the next one! My dream is to design even bigger projects and create a piece of bead art or a ‘bead painting’ if you will.
